It's new Coupon Day!

As you know, I'm working on getting into the coupon-ing thing, and today is Sunday and so today's paper will have new coupons for this week!

I'm still pretty new at this, and I'm using this great web site - the Grocery Game. com to help me out. It's neat. You put in your area code and then choose the stores that you shop in, and it puts together a list of the deals for that week.

I have also discovered that each week I get an email from Harris Teeter - which I gave them when I signed up for my VIC card. For a while I never even looked at those emails - but as it turns out they are emailing me an electronic version of their weekly sales flier! How neat is that? And guess what, I also get certain special deals each week that they call e-VIC deals. These I can use without an actual coupon. It's just "on my VIC card" and if I purchase whatever the special is, I get the discount when they swipe my VIC card. Pretty neat hu? I think so.

So what I've been doing, since I only half way payed attention in the past, is making a list of items that one store has "on sale" and what the price is. That way I have some something to compare it to when I see it at another store for a different price. Again, since I've never really payed attention before, I don't know what I could get - say - ground beef for? Sad, I know. I'm sorry, but I'm doing better now.

I'm also keeping a list of the frozen foods I've gotten. I bought several different meat specials last week and they got put in the freezer, so I made a list of the meats and veggies I've got in there!

I'm making a lot of lists.

I'm of course keeping up with the things my family needs on a weekly basis, and I'm trying to look for the best place and the best price to get all that stuff too! It's fun, exciting, challenging, and a bit daunting at the same time.

Hopefully, with all this time I'm spending I'll save a good bit of money for my family! Also, I'm hoping the more I do it, the less time it'll take. Although I do really enjoy it!

Happy coupon-ing!
