I'm Sorry We Cannot...

Ok I have to admit I’m a “model” show junky. I cannot help it. It’s not that I want to be that thin or pretty or go thru the crazy stuff the people on the shows go thru, but for some reason I love watching them.

I watch America’s Next Top Model (love the lovely Tyra Banks) and on Bravo I LOVE “Make Me a Supermodel” (this one is hosted by Tyson Beckford!)

I discovered while dying Easter eggs at my parents house in Georgia – that I’m not super model material! David found out he’s not either, but we had a good, good laugh doing it!

In the words of Tyson… “I’m sorry, we cannot make you into a super model!”

And now David's work...

Now, those are some good pictures to start a portfolio with, don't you think?

Easter Egg Hunt

In addition to the Easter eggs that the adults dyed – Nanny and Grandpoppy also had some plastic egg that the Easter Bunny hid outside! And it was totally amazing that there were only be 12 eggs for each kid, but somehow the eggs keep getting re-hidden and re-found! It was a good time for the Easter Bunny as much as for the kids I think! Thank you Easter Bunny!

Cute stuff

We had lots of reasons to take pictures while in Georgia - here are just a few random ones. They are in no particular order.

They are too cute!

Easter In Georgia

This year for Easter we went to GA to celebrate with my parents, sister and her boyfriend, and my Aunt Kay and Uncle Dave. Honestly David and I were worried about the drive down there. The drive is about 6 hours and when we went down for Thanksgiving poor Avery didn’t do so well. She cried most of the way (and at Thanksgiving it took much longer due to traffic), so needless to say I did a lot of praying she would do better this time around! And SHE DID!!

The whole weekend was really, really fun, and other than Avery having a cold – both kids did so well!! We had some wonderful food, fun, and family time just hangin’ out and laughing. We also took lots of pictures of the kids, the egg hunts and ourselves! So here are some pictures of those things!

We did the colored egg thing, but for some reason we never got it worked out to do with the kids, so the adults did them - boy was that a good time!!!

Birthday Pictures

So it's been a while since I blogged - and I've got a LOT of catching up to do... I've been trying to figure out how to put my pictures in a slide show to post here, but cannot figure it out... so I'll have to just put them up here I guess, sorry about that, I'll keep working on it.

I have several posts to make, I'm not sure how many I'll get done - so we'll just see how it goes!

Here are a few pictures from my birthday!

Thank You!

This post will be a follow up – kind of – to the birthday post.

First, I wanted to thank all of you for all the calls, cards, gifts, FB posts, blog posts and other birthday wishes! Saturday was a really great day! I wasn’t looking to forward to celebrating another birthday (which was pretty evident in the previous post) BUT I got my attitude adjusted and I had a great day!

David had to work Saturday morning, so the kiddos and I hang out here at home. The weather was BEAUTIFUL and we just enjoyed each other and the morning together here. Then after David got home, we went outside and watched the kids play (and got to meet a very nice man trying to sell us a Kirby Vacuum cleaner!!) for something like 2 hours! It was really wonderful to be outside and soak up the sun. I actually got sunburn!!! After all that fun, it was time for some “work” so David and Luke took my car to be cleaned! Which was nice – it needed it! I used that time to get ready for our dinner date. We ended up going out for Sushi with our good friends the Locklears! It was a fun evening for sure! Thanks guys!

Then came a really nice surprise – David came home with a gift certificate to Avanti (for those of you who don’t live in this area – that’s a salon and spa!) I got a card for a massage!!! YIPPIE I love that kinda thing! It was really unexpected and very, very thoughtful! Thank you David, for taking the time to think of and do that for me! I cannot wait to use it!

Just as a side note – Friday night some of my girlfriends came over here to help me celebrate. The plan was ice cream cake, coffee, a movie, and some general hangin’ out! Well, we had the cake, the coffee, and the hangin out – with lots of laughing – until about midnight! We never did get to the movie! Thanks ladies for taking time out and away from you’re families to spend the evening with me!! I had a TOTAL blast, and I’m so thankful for the blessing that each one of you are to me! I also learned that all the crack dealers in Winston Salem should LOOK OUT cause there’s one totally rockin’ cop out to get you’re butts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Again, thank you all for your love! I am sure blessed with wonderful friends and family – I don’t know what I would do without you all!!

Another Birthday

Sickness, rain, sickness and rain – and then on top of it all I’ve got a birthday coming up. I sure do hope the sun comes out sometime soon, that will surely help things to look up!

Having a birthday used to be reason to get excited – parties, friends, cake, growing up – the future was so exciting!

When I was a kid, there was the excitement of getting to “double digits” – you know – the BIG 1 - 0! Then at 10 I started looking toward 13 because of course at 13 you were a teenager!!! Whoop, whoop!! Then from 13 you look to 16 - the “legal age to drive” whoop, whoop again! Then the REALLY BIG 2 – 1, legal drinking age. Party for sure! And here at 21 you become “like a real adult.” It seems that after 21 birthdays kind of lose their momentum. From here it just seems you get older!

The rest of my birthdays in my 20’s were fun, I guess I don’t really remember any of them in particular but the next big birthday is 30, right? Well for my 30th birthday I was totally sleep deprived with a 3 month old baby! I’ve been trying to catch up on sleep and feeling older by the day ever since!

This year brings a “non” big birthday year – 34. This year I’m just hoping that David, Luke, Avery and I will all be well enough for David and I to go to dinner and the kids to stay with the sitter!! On Friday night I have some wonderful friends who want to celebrate with me. Because we’re all so busy and have kids and husbands and stuff we’ve planned to hang out at my house (poor David has to work on Friday night and since we already have a sitter for Saturday night, I didn’t want to leave the kids again!) and eat ice cream (cause if you know me, you know that ice cream is WAY better than cake!) and watch a movie. Well, our DVD player died and my baby boy is sick – so I’m hoping we will still be able to do that too!

I think what I’m learning is that with each birthday my life should be about what’s really important, like time with my family and raising my kids. Time with my friends, and living my life for the Lord! Making a difference for the kingdom is what is important… it’s not about me anymore now is it?!?! And that’s OK – cause I think God loves parties and I think He send you as a child so that parties are FUN, FUN, FUN! Don’t get me wrong – my wonderful hubby and family and friends are going out of their way to show me they care! But I’m saying that now on my birthday I look back to see the mistakes I’ve made and ask the Lord to help me do better in the future… cause one day I’ll be celebrating my birthday in heaven with my Creator (better than any party on Earth for sure!!) and when that time comes I want Him to be proud of the things I’ve done on Earth with the time He gave me here.

Thank you to all of you who have already made my birthday a special one this year! I love you so much!! I will try to do my best and make the most of my year this year – of course one of the most important things I’ll be doing is continuing to color over the gray hair God has given me! 
